What Is HALO™ Laser Treatment?

HALO Laser Treatment- Amarillo, Texas- Jazi Romero FNP.png

HALO is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. That means it combines two types of laser wavelengths in one treatment for more targeted skin resurfacing:

  • Ablative wavelength energy that resurfaces and exfoliates the damaged top layers of skin
  • Non-ablative wavelengths of energy that penetrate deeper to stimulate collagen and elastin

By treating both surface and deeper layers at the same time, HALO delivers comprehensive skin rejuvenation with shorter downtime than traditional fully ablative lasers.

Think of it as pressing “reset” on your skin: targeting the visible damage you see on the surface while working underneath to strengthen and renew your skin for the future.

Single vision lenses offer only one type of vision correction, so they are suitable for people with nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. Most prescription glasses and reading glasses have single vision lenses.

Progressive lenses are designed for people who need more than vision correction, such as nearsightedness and farsightedness. The surface of the lens has different prescription areas, but it looks completely seamless.

Who Is a Candidate for HALO™ ?

If you’re frustrated by pigment, texture, or early aging changes, there’s a good chance you’re a candidate for HALO. One of the unique strengths of this treatment at Awaken Medical Aesthetics is that we safely treat Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV. Many lasers can be risky for patients with medium to deeper skin tones, leading to burns or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation if performed by an inexperienced provider.

That’s why Jazi Romero’s expertise should matter to you. Jazi has performed over 1,000 treatments on diverse patients and trains other providers nationwide in safe laser protocols. You can feel confident and safe knowing your concerns and results are in the hands of a laser professional with advanced training and extensive experience.

Typical Contraindications

HALO may not be for you if:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Using certain acne medications (like isotretinoin)
  • Experiencing active acne or skin infections
  • Struggling with uncontrolled medical conditions that affect healing

If you've got a concern about whether HALO is right for you, we’ll review everything in detail during your complimentary consultation with Jazi.

How it works

What To Expect With A HALO™ Laser

Many patients are surprised by how straightforward the process is. Here’s what the typical HALO journey looks like:

1

Before Treatment
We’ll apply a topical numbing cream to maximize comfort. For patients who need it, we also offer additional comfort measures. Jazi will then map your treatment area and customize your settings based on your skin type and goals.

2

During Treatment
The session usually takes about 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Patients describe the sensation as warm with some prickling or tingling.

3

After Treatment
Immediately after, your skin will feel warm and look red, similar to a sunburn. Over the next few days, you may notice a “bronzing” effect or tiny dark spots as the treated skin begins to exfoliate. By day 4–7, you’ll see flaking and peeling as new, fresh skin is revealed.

4

Results
You’ll see an initial improvement in brightness and texture within a week. Over the next 2–3 months, your skin will continue to improve as new collagen and elastin form — leading to smoother texture, smaller-looking pores, and a radiant glow.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the HALO laser worth it?

Most patients find HALO laser worth the investment because it targets multiple concerns at once: pigment, texture, pores, and early wrinkles. Results last months to years, especially with good skincare and sun protection.

Is HALO safe for darker skin tones?

Yes- in the right hands of an experienced provider. Jazi Romero has extensive experience treating Fitzpatrick skin types I–IV safely. Her advanced training and protocols help minimize risks like hyperpigmentation. In some cases, patients will be required to prep the skin with topicals designed to improve results. Your exact plan will be created together with Jazi in your complimentary HALO consult.

Does HALO laser hurt?

With topical numbing, most patients describe the sensation as warm with some prickling. Any discomfort resolves shortly after treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients see noticeable results after just one treatment, though a series may be recommended for deeper concerns like scarring or advanced sun damage.

How long do HALO results last?

HALO stimulates your body to produce new collagen, so results can last 1–2 years. Many patients choose annual treatments to maintain their results.

What is HALO downtime like?

Expect about 5–7 days of redness, peeling, and bronzing. Most people can wear makeup after 24 hours and resume normal routines quickly.

How much does HALO cost?

Pricing varies depending on the area treated and the number of sessions recommended. We’ll review all costs during your consultation, and flexible Cherry financing is available.
